BERKI Viola (1950 - 2001)

BERKI Viola

VIola Berki painter. She was born in Kiskunhalas on 5th May 1932. She studied at the Hungarian Academy of Fine Arts, her maser was Géza Fónyi. Since 1961 for two years she worked at Dezső Kornis's alteriel. She travelled to Russia several times. This fact, and the meeting with the artist of the art colony of Szentendre made a greate impression on her. 

Next to painting she also made echings and screen printing. Several mosaics, ceramic pictures and book illustrations are also her works.  In 1975 she got the Munkácsy-price, in 1984 she was awarded the price "érdemes"artist, In 1994 she got the order of Merit by the Hungarian Republic. 

She died on 26th March 2001 in Budapest.
